Local Hiking and Mountain Bike Trails

 

Mount Baldy - there are a number of hiking trails that lead to the top of Mount Baldy, the highest peak across from your living room.

Quality Regional Park - Located off the Cobble Hill - Shawnigan Lake Road this park features a climbing trail, picnicking, and viewpoints. A short hike into the quarry is worthwhile for the exceptional swimming. The quarry was flooded to make a wonderful water reservoir.

The Kinsol Trestle - spectacular views of largest curved wooden structure of its kind in the British Commonwealth. From the resort, turn left onto Renfrew Road. Small parking area approx. 1.4 km. from the resort at the junction of the old CN grade and Renfrew Road. This is tricky to find but worth the effort (and the approximately 1/2 hour hike to find it.

Memory Island Park - This small island park in Shawnigan Lake, donated in memory of two young men who lost their lives in WWII, is accessible only by boat. It offers picnic tables and both a rocky and a sandy beach, as well as trails.

Kokasilah River - there is a multitude of some of the best competition mountain bike trails available on Southern Vancouver Island just past Burnt Bridge.

West Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park - picnic sites, hiking trails, play area, & swimming facilities (access to the beach). From the resort, turn left onto Renfrew Road. Turn left onto West Shawnigan Lake Road.
